G4 Racing leaves the second round of the Spanish F4 Championship in Portimão with plenty of positives to take home after securing its first championship points of the 2026 season and demonstrating strong race pace throughout the weekend.

Despite facing challenges during qualifying sessions, the team showed consistent improvement across every session and converted its race pace into solid results, scoring its maiden points in both Race 1 and Race 3.

The weekend also featured a significant setback when Jorden Moodley was involved in a accident during Race 1. Although the South African driver escaped the incident uninjured, the damage sustained by the car was too extensive to be repaired in time for Race 2. Thanks to the tremendous effort from the G4 Racing mechanics, the car was fully rebuilt and ready for Sunday’s activities, allowing Moodley to return to competition for Race 3.

The overall performance in Portugal confirmed the team’s competitiveness, with all three drivers displaying strong racecraft and determination despite difficult starting positions.

“Quite a good weekend for me. I still need to find more pace in qualy, but in the races I did very well and got my first point. Unfortunately, I lost the opportunity to get more on the last race of the weekend because of a mechanical problem.” Jean Karras #9

“We didn’t start the weekend very well. We were lacking pace in qualy but in the races we showed our potential and racecraft with two top ten finishes whilst starting from the back of the grid. We will work on fixing the pace for qualy for the next race.” Philippe Karras #12

“Quite an unexpected weekend having a big incident in Race 1 which ultimately led to me missing Race 2 due to the car being damaged. But nonetheless, I was able to recollect myself and come back stronger for Race 3, where I was able to keep my nose clean and take advantage of the safety car restarts.” Jorden Moodley #94

“It is always a pleasure and a challenge to race at the beautiful Portimão circuit. The track requires not only a good setup but also a great deal of commitment from the drivers, and its unique layout challenges everyone within the team.

Our drivers continuously adapted to the circuit and improved throughout every session. We are still missing performance during qualifying, but we appreciated the commitment and fighting spirit shown by all three drivers and are delighted to have scored our first championship points with Philippe Karras and Jean Karras.

Fortunately, Jorden Moodley walked away from his significant crash without injuries. To summarize, the speed is there and now we need to maximize it in the future. We are heading to MotorLand Aragón for the third round of the Spanish F4 Championship looking to convert our pace into stronger grid positions, as that will be the key to achieving even better results.

Many thanks to the drivers and especially to the team, who worked incredibly hard rebuilding a severely damaged car after the accident.” Patrick Gnos, Team Principal.
