The 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine started from Hockenheim last weekend with G4 Racing entering the series for the fourth consecutive year. The Spanish squad fielded the rookie trio of Frenchman Romain Andriolo, Mexican Jesse Carrasquedo, and Kanato Le, the first Japanese to have ever raced in FRECA.

The team, led by Patrick Gnos, faced a complicated weekend at the German venue, with the final result not reflecting its technical potential as well as the drivers’ potential. After a tough qualifying 1 session, Le, Andriolo, and Carrasquedo finished in P19, P21, and P22 in Race 1 respectively. All three drivers made positive gains from their starting spots.

Andriolo managed to finish Race 2 in P17, while Carrasquedo got P19 and Le had to retire following to a contact. On Sunday, three safety-car situations disrupted the second race, and most of the laps were run under caution.

The next event for the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine will be on the May 26th weekend at Circuit Spa-Francorchamps. G4 Racing is looking to bounce back to the positions it belongs to at the iconic Belgian Venue.
Kanato Le (Driver #9)

“It was a challenging weekend, where we showcased a lot of potential. Unfortunately, errors on my part prevented us from achieving a better result. Now that my first weekend in FRECA is behind me, I’m focused on learning from these experiences and improving for the upcoming races at Spa.”

Romain Andriolo (Driver #16)

“I made significant progress over the course of the weekend, although qualifying was challenging and track limits posed an issue for me. I’m eagerly anticipating next weekend’s race in Belgium, confident in our car’s ability to lead the pack!”

Jesse Carrasquedo (Driver #33)

“It was a challenging weekend; qualifying was tough, but we had some good comebacks during the race. So, we’ll keep working.”

Adrián Muñoz (Sporting and Technical Manager)

“Not the ideal way to start the season. Our drivers tried their best, but unfortunately, the qualifying sessions didn’t go as planned, and our pace wasn’t reflected in the results. We are now focusing on Spa, a very nice circuit where we’ve had some great moments in the past.”
