The magical moment of G4 Racing and Alessandro Giusti in the 2023 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is continuing. Lining up at Monza, the French rookie impressed again in race 1, taking his third victory of the season after starting from the second row.
For Giusti, who inherited the win as Andrea Kimi Antonelli was penalized for a Push-To-Pass infringement, this success marked the second consecutive win and the fourth podium in five races. The result also enabled him to retain P6 in the general classification, inching closer to Camara and Haverkort, who are fourth and fifth respectively.
Michael Belov was also having a good Race 1, but he was pushed off the track by a competitor while fighting for second position. Unfortunately for him, his race ended in the gravel. Pierre-Alexandre Provost did well and completed all the laps, finishing in P16.
On Sunday morning, the hard rain that fell on Saturday night complicated proceedings for everyone in qualifying, and Giusti was the team’s best performer with P9 in Group A. Unfortunately, Race 2 did not favor the team as well. Despite the red flag stopping the race early and for good, Belov fought back 9 positions to cross the finish line in P17, one spot ahead of Giusti. On the other hand, Provost ended up in P31.
Alessandro Giusti (Driver #3): “A very good weekend again, with the third win of the season on a brilliant Saturday! Unfortunately, despite the pace was there, a mistake in Q2 compromised our Sunday, but we keep working to aim better in the last two weekends”.
Pierre-Alexandre Provost (Driver #28): “It was a good meeting at Monza this weekend. The team did a great job all three days and helped me to get my best result in Race 1. The pace was really nice all weekend, even in Race 2, where I was in a battle for the top 20 before my crash. I would like to thank G4 Racing for this good weekend full of learning”.
Michael Belov (Driver #30): “It’s been such an unlucky weekend in Monza. I was very close to securing my first win of the season, but in the fight for P2, I got hit and retired from the race. Not much to say, just thank you to the team for a great car”.
Adrian Muñoz (Sporting and Technical Manager): “Overall a good weekend for the team, we had a really good pace in all conditions. Race 1 was like a rollercoaster with a well-deserved victory even with penalties to others. A pity for Michael because he was doing a great job until he was pushed out, while Pierre-Alexandre confirmed the progress he is making session by session. Sunday was a difficult day as we didn’t manage the traffic properly like Saturday in Qualifying 2. Our grid positions compromised the chances of scoring another good result in Race 2. Looking forward to Zandvoort!”.
