G4 Racing knows no breaks in the July stint of the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine as the series has reached its halfway point. Mugello Circuit in Italy was home to the fifth round of the series last weekend, in a summer calendar that offers little rest. After two rounds in May, two in June, and one so far in early July, round 6 is already on the horizon at Circuit Paull Ricard.
Back to Mugello, the Tuscan venue welcomed a new G4 Racing driver, Brazilian Alvaro Cho, who was coming from his national F4 championship. Not knowing the car and track, Cho put up a remarkable performance in integrating with the team and did a good job on track.
After a good start in practice for Kanato Le and Romain Andriolo, qualifying didn’t reflect the potential shown by the two drivers.
The team is looking forward with more confidence to Circuit Paul Ricard, a track that was already a feature in testing and that has no secrets.
Kanato Le (Driver #9): “It was another weekend with a good pace during practice. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to replicate that pace in qualifying, which put me in a less favorable position for the races. However, there are positives to take from this weekend, and I will keep improving for the next.”
Romain Andriolo (Driver #16): “The weekend in Italy was a step forward and bodes well for the rest of the season. We continue to prepare for the races and are now focusing on France this weekend.”
Álvaro Cho: (Driver #33): “First round completed in FRECA! Even though it was my first contact with the car, track, and team, it was a very fun and educational experience. The results were not what I expected, but I have my head held high for the next event at Paul Ricard!”
Adrián Muñoz (Sporting and Technical Manager): “Overall, it was a positive weekend for the team, albeit without reward. Mugello is a complicated circuit, but Álvaro managed to adapt quickly to the car, team, tyres, and much more. Kanato and Romain were not lucky with their qualifying group, which compromised their grid positions for the races. France is our next goal before the much-desired summer break.”
