G4 Racing achieved its best result of the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at Circuit Paul Ricard as the team got close to a podium finish in a tricky Race 2 on the wet.
Sunday started in the best way with Kanato Le showing impressive form and delivering fourth place in group A qualifying and securing a fourth-row start for the race in P7.
Rainfall hit the French circuit before the start of Race 2, which forced race control to start the race behind the safety car. The unusual start didn’t prevent the driver of Japanese origin from moving up to third place. Le kept himself in a possible podium position until the closing stages, when he had to drop back one spot, still achieving a brilliant P4.
Frenchman Romain Andriolo ended the weekend’s two races in P21 and P27 respectively, while up-and-coming Brazilian Alvaro Cho, who made his series debut only in the previous round at Mugello, continued to climb his learning curve by finishing in P23 and P25 respectively.
G4 Racing will be off to a few weeks of rest as the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine will be back on the September 8th weekend at Imola.
Kanato Le (Driver #9):
“Really positive weekend, being able to fight for the podium in race 2 and managing to get my first points for the season. Hopefully, I can keep this momentum up after the long summer break and get some good results.”
Romain Andriolo (Driver #16):
“I’ve been at my home race, which means a lot to me. It was not the results I expected, but anyway, I continue to take everything I can, and I will be here for the end of the season. I trust myself and the work we are doing. Congrats to the team for this week. See you in Imola.”
Alvaro Cho (Driver #33):
“Another weekend of FRECA completed here in Paul Ricard. It was a very interesting experience with a lot of learning, on a new technical circuit with different track conditions! I had constant progress throughout the weekend, and I am working to improve more and more.”
Adrián Muñoz (Sporting and Technical Manager):
“Very positive weekend for the team, showing strong pace with all drivers. Good progression for Alvaro, who continues to adapt to circuits and the category. For Romain, we didn’t choose the correct strategy in Q2 as track conditions didn’t evolve as we expected. Kanato showed proper pace and fought for the podium in R2, finally getting the results he worked hard to achieve. A much-desired summer break is coming, where we will recover from the first part of the season and come back stronger at Imola.”
