After the excellent third place delivered at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, G4 Racing was back on track at Barcelona, home to Round 9 of the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.
The Swiss squad delivered brilliantly on the Catalan track. In the first qualifying session, Romain Andriolo secured an excellent P4 in group A to claim the eighth starting position. Having to avoid a competitor who remained stationary on the grid in front of him, the Frenchman lost some spots at the start, finishing in P11, one step away from the points zone.
On Sunday, Kanato Le was in great form with third place in group B. Starting from the fifth spot, the English driver of Japanese origins grabbed a top-5 finish with a flawless run. Andriolo wrapped up the weekend in a positive 14th place, the same result achieved by Le in race 1. American Jett Bowling had a solid performance on his European debut, finishing the two races in 27th and 25th place respectively.
The tenth round in Monza, scheduled for the October 27 weekend, will wrap up the 2024 season.
Kanato Le (Driver #9): “It was a positive weekend here in Barcelona with a P3 in qualifying in my group and a P5 in Race 2, bringing home some points. I was very happy with the pace, and hopefully, we can keep this up for the last round in Monza”.
Romain Andriolo (Driver #16): “I think that in Round 9 I was able to put in my best performance of the year. I’m a bit disappointed with the final results, but we showed that we are capable of fighting for the top 5. Let’s see what we can do in Monza”.
Jett Bowling (Driver #33): “I knew it was going to be a tough weekend going into Barcelona for my first round of FRECA. Adapting to a different car, tires, and track proved difficult, yet we saw consistent improvement throughout the weekend”.
Adrián Muñoz (Technical and Sporting Manager): “Overall, I’m satisfied with the weekend. The three drivers did an amazing job. Kanato showed his real pace on Sunday and brought home some important points. Romain had a very strong pace throughout the event, but unfortunately, some mistakes prevented him from getting the results he deserved. However, I’m sure he will be in the same form at Monza. Jett passed the test of his first event in FRECA, improving every time he got in the car. Learning a track that most drivers test many times a year, and adapting to a new car and tires, was a huge challenge that he tackled successfully. Nothing more to say.”
